Data Deletion Instructions

How to remove brumo's access to your Instagram account, and how to have the data brumo holds about you deleted.

Last updated · September 15, 2026

Overview

This page explains how to delete the data that brumo holds about you, including data received through Instagram's Platform APIs, and what happens when you do. In line with Meta's Platform Terms, you may request deletion of any data we have received from your Instagram account at any time.

1.Four ways to end your connection with brumo

  • Disconnect Instagram in brumo: removes brumo's access to your Instagram account and pauses your automations, while keeping your brumo account.
  • Remove brumo from Instagram's own settings: revokes access directly from Instagram. Meta notifies us through the official Deauthorization Callback and we disconnect the account automatically.
  • Delete your brumo account: self-service, from Settings. Instagram access and Instagram data are removed immediately; your account and settings are kept for 30 days so you can restore them, then permanently deleted.
  • Email us: if you no longer have access to your account, we verify your identity and delete your data on request.

2.Disconnect Instagram in brumo

  1. 1.Log in to your brumo account.
  2. 2.Go to Settings → Account.
  3. 3.Select Disconnect Instagram.

When you do this, brumo's stored Instagram access token is revoked and deleted straight away, brumo's webhook subscription for your account is removed so we stop receiving events, and all automations are paused.

Your brumo account and its settings remain, so you can connect Instagram again later.

3.Remove brumo from Instagram's own settings

  1. 1.Open Instagram and go to Settings and privacy.
  2. 2.Select Apps and Websites.
  3. 3.Find brumo and select Remove.

Meta calls our servers through the official Deauthorization Callback the moment you do this. We use it to revoke and delete the stored access token, remove our webhook subscription, and pause your automations. No further action is needed in brumo.

This stops brumo from accessing your Instagram account, but does not delete your brumo account. To delete everything, use section 4 or 5.

4.Delete your brumo account

  1. 1.Log in to your brumo account.
  2. 2.Go to Settings → Account.
  3. 3.Open Account Management and select Delete account.
  4. 4.Confirm by typing your account email, then select Delete account again.

When you request deletion, brumo's stored Instagram access token is revoked and deleted straight away, our webhook subscription is removed, your automations stop, and the Instagram data we received on your behalf is deleted.

Your brumo account, its settings and your automation setups are kept for 30 days. You can log in at any time during that period and select Restore account to cancel the deletion.

Because the access token was deleted, you will need to connect Instagram again, and your automations will be restored in a paused state so you can choose which to switch back on.

After 30 days, your account and all remaining data are permanently deleted automatically.

If you would prefer your data removed immediately rather than after 30 days, email support@brumo.io and we will action it.

5.Request deletion without account access

Email support@brumo.io from your registered email address, including your connected Instagram username, with the subject line “Data deletion request.” We verify the request before acting on it.

6.What gets deleted

Immediately, when you request deletion:

  • Your stored Instagram access token, which is revoked and deleted.
  • Instagram data received on your behalf, including comments, story replies, message content and synced post information.

After the 30-day restore period:

  • Your name, email address, phone number (where provided) and authentication credentials.
  • Your connected Instagram account link, and any comment-to-DM, comment-reply or story-reply automations you configured, including their message text.
  • Support communications tied to your account.

7.What we retain, and why

After deletion we keep only the following:

  • Free usage record: your Instagram account's unique identifier (not your @username) and your monthly message usage counter, kept for 30 days to prevent abuse of our free monthly limits. Creating a new brumo account to re-link the same Instagram account will not reset your free monthly limit.
  • Technical delivery and security records: records of message deliveries, errors and security events, containing no message content, no @usernames and no personal details of people who interacted with your account. Kept for up to one year to investigate incidents, resolve disputes and meet our obligations under applicable law and Meta's Platform Terms.

Nothing else is retained beyond these periods, except where retention is required by law. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

8.Processing time

Disconnecting Instagram, whether in brumo or through Instagram's own settings, takes effect immediately.

When you delete your brumo account, Instagram access and Instagram data are removed immediately. Your account and settings are kept for 30 days so you can restore them, then permanently deleted. You can ask us to skip this period by emailing support@brumo.io.

Requests made by email are verified and processed within 30 days. Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups and are removed within 30 days of deletion.
